In the 10th year of the Gord Marshall Ladies’ Fastball Tournament, friends and family remember Marshall
Since 2006, the Gord Marshall Ladies' Fastball Tournament has raised $110,000 for the Oxford County unit of the Canadian Cancer Society and become a premier women's fastball tournament. Gord Marshall, seen here in a 2002 photo when he was coach of the Innerkip ladies' fastball team, passed away Aug. 12, 2003 at 48 years old from cancer and was known for being a family man who loved sports.

Brunt reminisces with visit to alma mater
Stephen Brunt has a strong connection with the University of Western Ontario. He received his BA in 1981 and his MA in journalism in 1982. It’s also where he met his wife as a first year student and began to craft his skills as a journalist. Brunt worked for the Globe and Mail for 27 years before he recently moved on to beome a columnist for sportsnet.ca and the new Sportsnet Magazine.

I have a passion for writing, sports reporting, research and history. I understand how to succeed in a newspaper and digital environment with accuracy, tight deadlines and social media usage being essential for success.

I have a high level of work experience and education and have continued to develop as a journalist and writer. I have an extensive background in writing, reporting, research at both the journalistic and educational levels. I've worked in all spheres of journalism from print and radio to television and online.

I'm currently working for the Woodstock Sentinel-Review, a daily newspaper in southwestern Ontario, that's part of the Sun Media newspaper chain. My work has previously appeared in the Toronto Sun, the Calgary Sun, the Edmonton Sun, the Ottawa Sun, the London Free Press, the Western Gazette, and several other publications. I've also given multiple lectures at conferences on topics in the Second World War and have been published at the university level.
